KTM RC8 will hit on Indian roads by the end of Year 2010
It’s expected that by the end of Year 2010 the bike KTM RC8 will hit on Indian roads. Austrian bike manufacturer Company KTM is planning to launch their super bikes and moto cross bikes in India through Bajaj’s pro-biking. The expected Indian KTM RC8 has 999cc, liquid cooled engine which generates maximum power of 135 bhp at 9600 rpm and maximum torque of 120 rpm. It will have 6 speed transmission, top speed of 174 kmph, analogue tacho meter, digital speedometer and 175 kg of weight. KTM RC8 expected to be priced in the Indian market Rs. 16 lakh (ex showrom).
In the Year 2007 Bajaj Auto made a contract with KTM Power Sports AG in which the KTM will provide facilities for joint development of the water cooled, 4 stroke, 125cc and 250cc engines and Bajaj Auto Distributes the KTM models in India and some other south East Asian two wheeler market also. Bajaj Auto currently holds 31.72 percent of interest.
In Indian two wheeler market, Suzuki recently launched Suzuki Bandit 1250S and Suzuki GSX R1000 and it expected that in the coming years, Italy based Piaggio will launch there Vespa LX125, but in the segment Honda Activa already enjoys the leadership.
